In a world on demand,
Everything at our command,
Instant gratification,
A new form of temptation.
We want it all and we want it now,
No time to waste, no time to allow,
For patience and for reflection,
As we seek constant satisfaction.
But in this rush to obtain,
What we think will ease our pain,
We forget the joy of waiting,
Of earning, of hesitating.
For in the moments we pause,
We may find a different cause,
A new path to take,
And a new life to make.
So let us not be slaves,
To this world on demand that enslaves,
But instead let us live with intention,
And savor life’s every dimension.
