It would be right to believe that the quality of life on earth is deteriorating. War, natural disasters, black chronicles, all this bad news that we collect and publish in the media have priority treatment. Such is the nature of the media. But at the top of priority consideration are certainly “climate disasters,” which already 40 years ago threatened to engulf the world within a year. But the world is still here, often more beautiful than it was 40 years ago. It’s just that some media don’t want to tell you that.

Take polar bears for example. A few years ago, scientists used their photos with bombastic annotations, something like “the polar bear will soon become extinct and it’s all to blame for global warming”. Unfortunately for climate propagandists and fortunately for the rest of the world, the polar bear has been experiencing a renaissance since the 1960s. If at that time there were between 5 and 10 thousand examples, today there are about 26 thousand scattered around the world. This is also the reason why they are no longer the face of climate catastrophe.

Later, a new climate catastrophe emerged. An Australian coral reef that wasn’t just disappearing, it just disappeared. Once again, it was man who caused climate change through his actions. But apparently the climate propagandists, including the Guardian, which published an obituary of a natural miracle, once again chose the wrong “face” of the global catastrophe. In fact, the coral reef today shows the greatest coral growth since it began to be monitored in 1985.
The media machinery, however, does not stop with the gospel of global doom. One of the common sayings is that global disasters are getting worse. This is a lie. In 1900, about 4.5 percent of the earth burned. In the last century, the percentage decreased to 3.2. In the last two decades, satellite images show a further decline. Last year, only 2.5 percent of the land burned. Rich societies prevent fires more easily. Prediction models show that, despite climate change, there will be even less burnt land in the future.

There are so many negative climate stories propagated by the media and activist organizations that these same people hardly ever think about the most basic indicators of human development, which are undoubtedly improving. Human life expectancy has doubled in the past century, from 36 years in 1920 to 72 years today. A hundred years ago, three quarters of humanity lived in extreme poverty. Today, less than ten percent live in extreme poverty. A major environmental problem like air pollution was four times as deadly a hundred years ago as it is today. Mainly because a hundred years ago, people cooked with the help of burning wood and … animal excrement.
Because of this kind of propaganda, humanity makes bad decisions. With all the attention that heat waves receive in the media and society in general, more important climate problems are overlooked. According to the Financialpost, in the United States and many other parts of the world, heat deaths are decreasing due to increasing access to air conditioning. On the other hand, mortality due to cold is increasing. If every year in the USA 20 thousand people die from heat waves, on the other hand 17 thousand die from the cold, but no one wants to talk about this, because it is not “climate” opportune. The number of deaths due to the cold will continue to increase, as virtuous politicians around the world have begun to enforce legislation that makes energy more expensive in the name of protecting the environment, which means that fewer and fewer people will be able to afford heating.
The scientifically provable truth, which the prophets of global warming do not want to hear, is that life on Earth is consistently improving, and the damage caused by weather events is having less and less impact on humans. In the 1920s, as many as half a million people died due to weather disasters. In the previous decade, there were only 18 thousand of them. Both this year and in 2021 and 2022, even lower numbers are recorded. Reducing the lethality of weather is also no secret. Humanity is becoming richer and thus more resilient.
Climate activists won’t tell you this. Apocalyptic scaremongering is a great business. Much more funds are collected in this way than with objective and scientifically provable truth. Celebrities, politicians, “influencers” of all kinds happily travel around the world in their private jets, give lectures and signal their “high” moral status, while making huge profits. But on the other hand, there is great damage to society. The political caste makes bad and expensive political decisions due to forged and fabricated data. As a result, there is not enough talk about problems that cause much more damage to humanity, such as hunger and infectious diseases. At the same time, humanity is getting deeper and deeper into anxiety and doubt about the value of its own existence.
Global warming is a problem, but not as big as you think
Having said all this, it must be emphasized that global warming is a real problem caused by mankind. But with all this, we have too little perspective. If we want to know what we can expect from a warming planet in the future, we can look to the economic models used by both the Biden and Obama administrations. These reveal the total, global cost of climate change. Bottom line, including economic and other damage, this will amount to less than four percent of global GDP by the end of the century. Having said that, it is clear that humanity is getting richer every day. The United Nations projects that (disregarding global warming) in 2100 the average person will be 450 percent better off than today. If we subtract from this the damage that will be caused by global warming, it quickly becomes clear to us that climate change will not cause any catastrophe.
