1. Surround yourself with plants and motivational inscriptions in green
The color green has already been proven to have a calming effect on our mood. It is considered the color of calmness, balance and joy. Plants also have an anti-stress effect, especially true aloe (aloe vera), spathiphyllum, areca palm, tufted green plant. Of course, any other plant you particularly like will also have a beneficial effect on you.
Thus, in overcoming stress at work, it may be useful to surround yourself with green vegetation or some motivational inscriptions printed on a green background.
2. Find your own corner to relax
At work, try to find a corner where you can retreat in the worst moments and ‘vent’ your bad mood. This can be a slightly secluded corner in the corridor, a shared kitchen where you and your colleagues make coffee, or a room with sofas and armchairs, which many companies have available for their employees and which is basically intended for chatting, drinking coffee, dining…
The fact that a person who at some point in the workplace becomes very agitated and angry due to a conflict or stress in himself, can withdraw away from the source of stress, has been proven to be the most helpful in overcoming problems in the long term.
3. Hang out with colleagues outside of work
In every workplace, there are a few people who match each other’s personalities and opinions more than anyone else. If they start hanging out here and there outside of work as well, friendly ties are woven between them and a deeper level of confidentiality is established. So they are no longer just colleagues, but also friends.
As a result, it is certainly less stressful to work in an environment where you are also surrounded by a friend, a confidant, and when things get too bad, you can confide in them about your problems and at least ease your soul a little, as we say.
4. Play music that relaxes you
Music, like plants, has been proven to relax and also promote efficiency. One option is to listen to soothing music through headphones, and the other is to have relaxing music played over speakers for everyone in the workplace to listen to.
5. Think of healthy snacks
Healthy food and drink are also recommended aids in overcoming stress. If you’re already pretty exhausted and under pressure, don’t drink coffee or energy drinks, which will invigorate you even more. Instead, brew tea, for example chamomile, or take care of vitamin intake with freshly squeezed fruit juice, which will provide you with a new wave of energy.
Foods that help to overcome stress also include nuts and fish, which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, berries, which contain a lot of antioxidants – which help the brain function better and help the blood to circulate better throughout the body – and, to the great delight of many, dark chocolate. True cocoa in dark chocolate, like berries, contains a lot of antioxidants, otherwise a lot of happy hormones are released in people when they eat chocolate.
