Change your life in 60 seconds

Internet

Humans spend a lot of time dwelling on the past and thinking about the future, forgetting to live in the now, this moment. This is definitely one of the most unhealthy habits. Stress is a silent killer – if we are constantly under stress and our body is in a constant state of fight or flight, this can lead to the development of cardiovascular diseases, chronic fatigue and a host of other health problems in the long run. Not being aware of the present moment is really not a habit to be proud of, but being preoccupied with anything but the present can be a very powerful drug. So how do you break this vicious cycle and start being more aware of this moment?

For some people, the very thought of it is downright terrifying. People sometimes just kind of numb out and get distracted by different things, just so we don’t have to deal with feelings we’re not ready to face and process. Living in the present moment forces us to do just that – to get in touch with these feelings and face them, if only for a moment. Feelings arise, we feel them, and then they pass. And after that, nothing remains but peace and quiet. And life continues to be like a calm lake. In this way, we begin to rediscover the beauty of things that were previously hidden from us. No stress. No anxiety. There really isn’t anything to worry about at this point.

So how can you change your life in just 60 seconds?

First, put aside all your work, stop and close your eyes.

Breathe deeply and consciously. Then connect with your feelings. Touch your fingertips and try to be aware of every touch between your fingertips. Listen to the sound of your inhalations and exhalations. Listen to the wind blowing outside and carrying the leaves around. Touch the sky with your tongue. Pay attention to the smell of the air you breathe. Then open your eyes.

Welcome to the present moment. Take a good look at it. Pay attention to the people around you. Smile at them. Be grateful for this moment and try to enjoy it as much as possible. Let it last.

The more often you visit the present moment, the better your day will be. You will wake up in the morning with a smile on your face. You will take your time and have breakfast in peace. You will be tolerant and kind to drivers on the road.

You can think of this exercise as adjusting the focus on your camera. People often rush through the day and don’t even bother to set up a suitable lens or check if the lens on our camera hasn’t accidentally fogged up. In this way, it is truly almost impossible to focus on the present moment. But if you take a minute, stop and calm down, all the fog will quickly lift and your view of the world will change. You feel better.

Life changes are very simple. Of course, many factors affect this, so it takes some time and patience. Changes in diet and relationships also take time. Living in the present moment and being more present is something completely achievable. In 60 seconds you can take care of less stress, breathe easier and calm down.
