After several attempts, I managed to find the nearest neighbor,
which had a house number. He pointed at the shadows and said:
“They’re lightning fast, both of them, I don’t know if you’ll have anything to do with them.”
The newspaper ad was clear: Land and orchard for rent.
I parked on the dirt road and looked around with interest.
There were no fruit trees to be seen anywhere, just overgrown everywhere
meadows and trailer in the valley. I headed down the narrow path to
white plastic that showed greenery. The girl in the wicker chair was playing
the violin. “I came for the sake of the land,” I told her. It’s careful
put down the instrument and was amazed:
“What lands?”
“I think because of the ad,” I tried again.
“Oh, because of the ad. Frank, Frank!” she called out.
A half-naked bearded long-haired man peeked out from the trailer.
“Hello brother, nice to hear from you. What good will it do?” he asked.
“I’m coming because of the ad that you’re renting out land, I’m having a hard time
found,” I tried for the third time.
“Ah, this is a bit old, but we can change everything,” he said
long-haired and wore a blue work jacket.
“Shall I roll one?” asked the violinist. The guy waved in the direction
me.
“I’d rather not,” I was blunt. “I’m usually all over the grass
dull and confused.’
“Would you like a glass of wine?”
“Always,” I accepted.
“Sit, sit here,” the girl pointed to an old, rickety chair.
“The ad mentioned an orchard,” I said, tasting the wine,
which was so sour that I could hardly contain my face.
“Yes, my brother, that was before, I mean, the old orchard is gone,
new trees will have to be planted. You know, that old Chinese one,
a tree, a book, a house, a child, I don’t know how it goes,” he said
long haired.
“Basically, we don’t own this land, our grandchildren do,” she said
girl and tied her long mane of hair into a bun.
“Do you have children?” I asked.
“Not yet, old man, not yet, I like the production one best with kids
process. Just kidding, we absolutely love kids, only in this one
we are in a phase of solitude. No dear?” said the guy, offering a cigarette.
“Yes, indeed, we will have at least five, six of them,” said the girl.
We fell silent for a moment. I didn’t want to explain to them how
everything crashed for me twice.
“So about the land,” I insisted.
“Hey, dude, hurry up, I’m begging you. Earth isn’t going anywhere
ran away. And to tell you the truth, you came on just the right day,” he said
said the long haired one walking into the trailer. You are over the work overalls
he put on his tie.
“That’s right, you’ve come to the right place,” said the girl, rolling the roll.
I was in no hurry, but I got up anyway.
“This,” I gestured with my hand in a circle, “this is all yours.”
The guy snorted: “You really have no peace, ha, yes, it was written beautifully, yes
it is rented. The lease is renewed every year, but if it is a permanent plantation,
but it’s another song.
The girl smoked a joint and inhaled the smoke. I didn’t this time
declined, I took two short smokes.
“They’re coming today, so I’m having a little fun,” said the guy from behind the cloud
smoke.
“Who is coming?” I was curious.
“Yes, the police!”
“Oh dear, the scene,” I missed.
“Yes, a difficult scene,” echoed the girl, getting comfortable
slumped over.
“Don’t think, nothing like that, a couple of debts, a couple of lawsuits, let them go
somewhere,” said the long-haired man, sitting comfortably in the grass in Turkish.
“You have no peace anywhere, nowhere to hide,” she said
a girl.
“What are you talking about, it’s only external,” he said.
For a while I thought they were joking, but when I saw the policeman,
which were gradually approaching, I had to believe them. He is long-haired
got up and gave me his hand:
“I’m going to meet them, I don’t want them browsing around here. Be good,
see you brother,” he said in farewell.
I waited for the group to move away and then stood up.
“I’d better go too,” I decided.
“How can you say such a thing, you won’t leave me alone,” she said
wondered the girl.
How can I stay, since I don’t even know her, and I’ve been here for twenty years
older than her, I thought.
“I’m reading your mind,” she said with a magical laugh.
“You have a nice smile, like a child,” I flattered her.
“That’s better,” she said and walked over to me. She hugged me and
kisses on the forehead.
“Don’t worry, tomorrow we will advertise that the land is for rent, everything will be done in the future
okay, everything will be fine,” she said, taking the violin in her hands.
